The continent in miniature. This island has a lot to offer

Markets in Teror

For those who want to feel the Sunday vibe of old Canarian village, we recommend visiting Sunday market in Teror located around the magnificent Basilica of Our Lady of the Pine dedicated to the patron saint of the island. Every Sunday from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm you can enjoy music and stalls offering local products and tasty food such as famous Teror chorizo or traditional pastries. And the last thing you can’t miss is the unique Canarian Perfume House where you can also buy some fragrant memories.

Recommendation: Try to get there before 11:00am to avoid getting stuck in traffic jam.

Puerto de Mogan

If you are not into long trips, but still want to see a charming place, you should visit Puerto de Mogán also called Gran Canaria’s “Little Venice”. Stop in Heladería Martonela, grab their handmade ice crem and go for a nice walk through its picturesque streets. There is no need to be worried about finding the place to eat, as there are many, but our favorite is Restaurante Mi Vida with high quality food and the best views of the harbour.

Recommendation: If you are a fan of street markets, then you can experience there the largest market in the south of Gran Canaria every Friday from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm.

Roque Nublo

Roque Nublo is a place that changes people’s opinions about hiking. There is no need to be afraid of walking for hours in the heat. You can easily reach this beautiful peak by walking just a 1,5 km (one way) and see that Gran Canaria is not just about the beaches. It is accessible for everyone from a parking lot, and it takes about 30 minutes or less to get to the top. You won’t believe how the nature can look like just a few kilometers from the villa.

Recommendation: If you don’t want to lose a day on the beach, you should consider doing a sunset hike. Additionally, it is necessary to put on some sneakers and take a hoodie in case it is windy.

Dunes of Maspalomas

A real must-see place when in Gran Canaria. Have you ever dreamed about visiting a desert? If your answer is yes, then you should consider visiting the Dunes of Maspalomas which are located just about 15 minutes’ drive from your villa.

Recommendation: If you decide to go there in the afternoon or evening, then you can have a dinner in one of our highly recommended restaurants in Maspalomas – Allende 22. Don’t forget to make a reservation in advance.

Fataga & Tejeda

If you want to explore the island little more and see how adventurous it can be, especially driving in the mountains, you can plan a trip to these lovely villages. It is not just about reaching those villages; it is about enjoying the beautiful scenery all the way up and down. We suggest stopping at Mirador Degollada de las Yeguas which let you observe a spectacular Fataga valley.

Cactualdea park

For those who want to see a breathtaking Gran Canaria landscape, but don’t want to do the full day trip, we suggest visiting the largest cactus park in Europe. You will be passing by many viewpoints, but we recommend stopping at Los Azulejos for a while.

Recommendation: Once you have done the walk through the park, you can sit in the bar and try their freshly made prickly pear juice.

Surfing in Las Palmas

Las Canteras beach in Las Palmas gives you a great opportunity to catch your first waves or to improve your technique while on vacation. Do not hesitate anymore and go for it! It can’t be easier as it takes only fifty minutes by car from the villa.

Recommendation: If you are looking for family or couple surf lessons, we suggest visiting a website of Oceanside Surf School and check out their special offers.
